Tantora Winter Festival Launches in AlUla with Diverse Activities

The Tantora Winter Festival launched today, February 25, 2023, in the city of AlUla with its fifth edition, featuring wide participation from Saudi and Arab artists and creatives, as part of the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate’s efforts to enhance the city’s position as a leading tourist and cultural destination.
The festival continues until March 11, featuring more than 140 diverse activities including musical concerts, theatrical and artistic performances, creative workshops, as well as interactive activities for children and families. Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Governor of the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate, confirmed that the festival aims to “highlight the unique cultural and natural heritage of the AlUla region and provide a platform for Saudi artists and creatives to express their talents and innovations.”
The opening ceremony featured a massive musical performance with the participation of the AlUla Symphony Orchestra and the Middle East Music Band, led by Spanish maestro Pablo Gonzalez. Fireworks displays and dazzling light shows were also held on the historic rock facades in AlUla.
The AlUla Governor noted that the festival contributes to supporting the local economy and providing job opportunities for residents, as the number of workers in this year’s festival exceeded 2,000 people, the majority of whom are from AlUla’s sons and daughters.
Visitors can enjoy a wide range of cultural and entertainment experiences, including visiting famous archaeological sites such as Madain Saleh and Al-Hijr, participating in workshops to learn traditional handicrafts, and attending documentary film screenings at the open-air cinema.
The Tantora Winter Festival comes as part of a series of events organized by the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate throughout the year, aiming to achieve Saudi Vision 2030’s goals of diversifying the economy and enhancing Saudi Arabia’s position as a global tourist destination.
