Study Reveals: 30 Minutes of Daily Exercise Can Add Years to Your Life
A recent scientific study conducted by public health researchers has revealed that engaging in moderate physical activity for 30 minutes daily can extend lifespan and significantly improve quality of life.
Results published in The Lancet medical journal showed that people who engage in brisk walking, cycling, or any moderate-intensity physical activity for half an hour daily reduce their risk of premature death by up to 28% compared to those who don’t engage in any physical activity.
Lead researcher Dr. James Smith confirmed that “even small amounts of physical activity can make a significant difference in overall health.” He added: “People don’t need to go to the gym or engage in strenuous exercises – brisk walking, climbing stairs, or doing household chores can be sufficient.”
The study included more than 130,000 people from 17 countries worldwide, followed for 7 years. Results showed that the benefits of physical activity include reducing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, in addition to improving mental and psychological health.
The World Health Organization recommends that adults engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity weekly, or 75 minutes of vigorous physical activity, in addition to muscle-strengthening exercises at least twice a week.
The study concluded that incorporating physical activity into daily routines is one of the most effective ways to prevent chronic diseases and extend lifespan, emphasizing that “a little movement daily can make a big difference in overall health.”
