Saudi National Day: 93 Years of Building and Achievements
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates today the 93rd National Day, which falls on February 22nd each year, commemorating the unification of the Kingdom by King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud in 1932.
In a televised speech on the occasion of National Day, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud affirmed that “the Kingdom is moving forward with confident steps toward achieving Vision 2030 and reaching its ambitious goals,” praising the comprehensive developmental achievements that have been realized in recent years.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman tweeted: “Today we celebrate the anniversary of the unification of this blessed land by the founding King Abdulaziz, and we remember his great sacrifices for the elevation of the nation.”
The Kingdom has witnessed a major developmental boom in recent years, with government investments reaching approximately 3.2 trillion riyals (853 billion dollars), according to data from the Saudi Ministry of Finance. The gross domestic product also rose from 2.3 trillion riyals in 2016 to 3.1 trillion riyals in 2022, according to data from the General Authority for Statistics.
The development plan included giant projects such as the “NEOM” project at a cost of 500 billion dollars, the Red Sea tourism project, in addition to the expansion of the Two Holy Mosques and the establishment of King Abdullah Economic City.
This National Day comes amid the continued implementation of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify sources of income and reduce dependence on oil, as the contribution of the non-oil sector to GDP rose from 37% in 2016 to 47% in 2022.
The Kingdom has also witnessed wide social and economic reforms in recent years, including allowing women to drive, launching tourist visas, organizing musical concerts and entertainment festivals, in addition to launching the economic reform program “Saudi Vision 2030.”
The Kingdom celebrates this precious occasion with various national events in different regions, including air, land, and sea shows, musical concerts, fireworks displays, in addition to lighting the Kingdom’s landmarks in green, the color of the Kingdom’s flag.
In conclusion, the 93rd Saudi National Day embodies 93 years of comprehensive developmental building and achievements that have been realized during the era of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, within the framework of seeking to achieve the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030.
