King Mohammed bin Saud was born in Riyadh in 1909, the eldest son of King Abdulaziz Al Saud, founder of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He assumed the governorship of Riyadh in 1926 at the age of seventeen, and continued to hold this position until his father’s death in 1953.
During his tenure as governor of Riyadh, Mohammed bin Saud worked to develop and modernize the city. He established schools and hospitals, paved roads, and extended water and electricity lines. He also focused on agriculture and industry, encouraging investment in the region.
In addition to his role in developing Riyadh, Mohammed bin Saud was an active member of the Shura Council, participating in the formulation of many laws and regulations governing life in the Kingdom. He also represented his father at numerous official occasions both within the Kingdom and abroad.
Mohammed bin Saud passed away in 1988 at the age of 79, leaving behind a significant legacy in the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is considered one of the symbols of the modern Saudi state and made substantial contributions to the nation’s progress and development across various fields.
