Rooted National Identity: The Kingdom Celebrates Founding Day
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrated today the annual anniversary of Founding Day, which falls on the twenty-second of February each year, commemorating the blessed memory of the establishment of the First Saudi State by Imam Mohammed bin Saud in 1727 AD.
In a televised address, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud affirmed that “Founding Day represents a dear occasion to all our hearts, where we recall with pride and honor the establishment of the First Saudi State three centuries ago and the great achievements that were realized in various fields during that period.”
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister, said: “Founding Day is a day of pride and honor for every Saudi, where we recall the deep-rooted foundations of our blessed state and the great achievements that have been accomplished throughout history.”
Various regions of the Kingdom witnessed official and popular celebrations on this precious national occasion, where streets and squares were adorned with flags and decorations, and military and folkloric performances were held, along with heritage exhibitions and various activities in all administrative regions.
As part of the celebration of Founding Day, the Ministry of Culture announced the launch of the “My Identity” initiative, which aims to highlight the Saudi national identity and enhance belonging to the homeland, through organizing cultural, artistic, and heritage events in various regions of the Kingdom.
The celebration of Founding Day comes as an extension of the celebrations of the Kingdom’s National Day on the twenty-third of September each year, where Founding Day represents a precious national occasion during which new generations of the sons and daughters of the homeland recall the ancient history of the Saudi state and the great achievements that were realized in various fields.
These celebrations come amid the comprehensive development renaissance that the Kingdom is witnessing within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to achieve sustainable development and prosperity for citizens in all regions of the Kingdom.
