The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrated the anniversary of Founding Day today, which falls on the 22nd of February each year, commemorating the founding of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727.
In a televised speech, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, affirmed that “Founding Day is a dear occasion for all of us, where we recall with pride and honor the establishment of the first Saudi state three centuries ago and the great achievements made in various fields.”
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz said: “Founding Day is a day of pride and honor for every Saudi, where we recall the deep roots of our blessed state and the great achievements made throughout history.”
Various regions of the Kingdom witnessed official and popular celebrations on this precious national occasion, where streets and squares were adorned with flags and decorations, and military and folkloric shows, heritage exhibitions, and various activities were held in all administrative regions.
As part of the celebration of Founding Day, the Ministry of Culture announced the launch of the “My Identity” initiative, which aims to highlight the Saudi national identity and enhance belonging to the homeland, by organizing cultural, artistic, and heritage events in various regions of the Kingdom.
The celebration of Founding Day comes as an extension of the celebrations of the Kingdom’s National Day on the 23rd of September each year, where Founding Day represents a precious national occasion where new generations of the sons and daughters of the homeland recall the ancient history of the Saudi state and the great achievements made in various fields.
These celebrations come amid the comprehensive development renaissance witnessed by the Kingdom within the framework of Vision 2030, which aims to achieve sustainable development and prosperity for citizens in all regions of the Kingdom.

يحتفل السعوديون اليوم باليوم الوطني للتأسيس الذي يصادف 22 فبراير من كل عام، تخليداً لذكرى تأسيس الدولة السعودية الأولى على يد الإمام محمد بن سعود عام 1727م.
وتأتي احتفالات هذا العام تحت شعار “يوم بدينا”، حيث تشهد مختلف مناطق المملكة فعاليات وطنية متنوعة تعبر عن الاعتزاز بالجذور الراسخة والارتباط الوثيق بين القيادة والشعب.
وأكد خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود في كلمة بهذه المناسبة أن “يوم التأسيس مناسبة عزيزة على قلوبنا جميعاً، نستذكر فيه بدايات الدولة السعودية الأولى وما تحقق فيها من إنجازات عظيمة في مختلف المجالات”.
من جانبه، قال ولي العهد الأمير محمد بن سلمان: “يوم التأسيس يوم فخر لنا جميعاً، نستلهم منه قيم الوسطية والاعتدال والتسامح التي قامت عليها الدولة السعودية منذ تأسيسها قبل ثلاثة قرون”.
وتشهد الاحتفالات تنظيم العديد من الفعاليات التراثية والثقافية والترفيهية، إضافة إلى العروض الجوية للقوات الجوية الملكية السعودية وعروض الألعاب النارية في سماء العاصمة الرياض وعدد من المدن السعودية.
كما تشهد المتاحف والمواقع التاريخية بالمملكة إقبالاً كبيراً من الزوار الراغبين في التعرف على تاريخ الدولة السعودية وحضارتها العريقة.
وتأتي احتفالات هذا العام في ظل الظروف الاستثنائية التي تمر بها البلاد جراء جائحة كورونا، حيث تم اتخاذ كافة التدابير الاحترازية لضمان سلامة المواطنين والمقيمين المشاركين في الفعاليات.
وكان مجلس الوزراء السعودي قد أصدر قراراً في عام 2022م بجعل يوم 22 فبراير من كل عام إجازة رسمية لجميع العاملين في القطاعين العام والخاص، تخليداً لذكرى تأسيس الدولة السعودية الأولى.
ويشكل “يوم التأسيس” فرصة لتجديد العهد مع قيم الوحدة والولاء والانتماء للوطن، واستلهام الدروس والعبر من تاريخ المملكة العريق، واستشراف مستقبل زاهر للمملكة في ظل قيادتها الحكيمة.
وتأتي الاحتفالات أيضاً تأكيداً على ما تشهده المملكة من نهضة شاملة في مختلف المجالات ضمن رؤية 2030، التي تستهدف تحقيق نقلة نوعية في مسيرة التنمية والازدهار.
تألق النجم الفرنسي كريم بنزيما، مهاجم نادي الاتحاد السعودي، في المباراة التي فاز فيها فريقه على ضمك بنتيجة 3-1 ضمن منافسات الجولة التاسعة من دوري روشن السعودي.
وسجل بنزيما هدفين رائعين في اللقاء، ليرفع رصيده إلى 6 أهداف في 7 مباريات فقط خاضها مع الاتحاد منذ انتقاله إليه في صيف 2023 قادماً من ريال مدريد الإسباني.
وعقب المباراة، قال بنزيما في تصريحات صحفية: “سعيد جداً بفوز الفريق وتسجيلي للأهداف، لكن الأهم هو تحقيق الانتصارات وجمع النقاط. نسير في الاتجاه الصحيح وهدفنا المنافسة على لقب الدوري هذا الموسم”.
ويحتل الاتحاد المركز الثاني في جدول ترتيب الدوري السعودي برصيد 20 نقطة، بفارق نقطتين فقط عن الهلال المتصدر.
وبذلك، يواصل بنزيما تألقه اللافت في الملاعب السعودية، حيث سبق له الفوز بجائزة أفضل لاعب في الدوري عن شهر سبتمبر الماضي، كما اختير ضمن التشكيلة المثالية للجولة.

King Mohammed bin Saud was born in Riyadh in 1909, the eldest son of King Abdulaziz Al Saud, founder of modern Saudi Arabia. He became Governor of Riyadh in 1926 at the age of 17, a position he held until his father’s death in 1953.
During his governorship, Mohammed bin Saud focused on developing and modernizing Riyadh. He established schools and hospitals, built roads, and extended water and electricity networks. He also promoted agriculture, industry, and investment in the region.

Mohammed bin Saud passed away in 1988 at the age of 79, leaving behind a significant legacy in Saudi Arabian history. He is considered one of the symbols of the modern Saudi state and made substantial contributions to the country’s progress and development across various fields.
In an unprecedented achievement, young Saudi woman Maryam bint Khalid Al-Otaibi has developed a smart application aimed at facilitating the lives of people with special needs. This accomplishment comes as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to empower women in the field of technology and innovation.
Maryam, aged 27, holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from King Saud University. She began her journey in the world of technology at a young age, where she enjoyed designing websites and developing applications.
In 2022, Maryam participated in the “Special Needs Hackathon” organized by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). During this event, she presented the idea for the “Noor” application, which helps the visually impaired navigate independently within public buildings.
“My goal with this application was to empower people with special needs and make their lives easier,” says Maryam. “I was inspired by a personal experience with one of my relatives who suffers from visual impairment.”
The “Noor” application won first place in the competition and received widespread praise from the audience. It also attracted the attention of several major technology companies in the Kingdom.
According to official statistics, there are more than 3 million people with special needs in Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 aims to improve their quality of life and integrate them into society.
Commenting on Maryam’s achievement, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabai’, advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said: “We are proud of our young talents who contribute to building a promising digital future for the Kingdom. Maryam is a role model for ambitious Saudi women.”
Currently, Maryam is working on developing an advanced version of the “Noor” application in collaboration with the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. She also plans to launch a startup specializing in developing technological solutions for people with special needs.
“I aspire to be a role model for young Saudi women and encourage them to enter the field of technology,” Maryam concludes. “With knowledge and determination, nothing is impossible.”
Maryam’s success comes at a time when the Kingdom is seeking to enhance the role of women in various sectors, especially in the fields of science, technology, and innovation. Her achievement is expected to inspire a new generation of Saudi innovators.
