French star Karim Benzema succeeded in breaking his goal drought with Al-Ittihad Club, scoring against Abha during the match that brought the two teams together in the 18th round of the Roshn Saudi League for Professionals.
Benzema’s goal came in the 33rd minute of the first half, ending a dry spell that lasted 4 consecutive matches during which he failed to score. His last goal was against Al-Faisaly in the 14th round of the tournament.
Benzema expressed his happiness at returning to scoring, saying: “I’m very happy to score the goal that contributed to the team’s victory. I felt some pressure during the past period, but I never lost confidence in my abilities.”
He added: “I work hard in training to be in my best condition and help the team achieve victories. The most important thing is the positive results for Al-Ittihad.”
The coach, Nuno Santo, praised Benzema’s performance despite the goal drought, confirming that he is an extremely important player in the team’s ranks.
It is worth mentioning that Benzema moved to Al-Ittihad from Real Madrid in the summer of 2023, and has played 17 matches with the team in all competitions so far, scoring 12 goals and providing 7 assists.
Al-Ittihad won the match against Abha with two clean goals, continuing its positive results in the league and maintaining its position among the top teams.
